MC Hammer is credited with bringing rap music into the mainstream when he exploded onto the charts in 1990 with his second album, Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em, which sold over 10 million units and became one of the best-selling rap albums of all time. Legions of fans enthused over U Can't Touch This, a song which became a veritable touchstone for the burgeoning rap movement.
